As many of you have heard, Governor Pritzker has officially closed all Illinois schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. It saddens the hearts of the entire Mt. Pulaski Community to end our school year in such an abrupt fashion. Please know that the Board of Education, administration, teachers and staff are collaborating to devise plans to close the school year in manner that provides for our students in the best way possible.
Because of restrictions imposed by the governor in efforts to contain the COVID-19 virus, all remaining school district activities, including Prom and graduation, are currently postponed until the possibility of alternative plans can be explored. We must face the reality that these events cannot take place as planned and we must consider other options and the potential for cancellation if it is in the best interest of public safety.
In Mt. Pulaski, each school has a Building Leadership Team that will meet virtually to create a plan. Once these plans are completed, the district will notify the community of how we intend to move forward. Some of the items under consideration by the leadership teams will include the safe return of personal belongings, postponement/cancellation of school events and the return of district property (iPads, textbooks, equipment, etc.…).
The Mount Pulaski School Board has been very proud of administration, teachers, staff and the community during this challenging time. We would like to thank everyone for their efforts, past and present. The school district will continue communications as plans are revealed and new information is made public. Until then, we ask that you stay home, stay safe and continue your diligence in providing for our community within the constraints we are provided. Thank you.
