Governor Pritzker’s announcement last week restricted students from physically returning to classes for the rest of the school year. What this means for students is that remote learning will continue through Friday May 15, 2020. Teachers will continue to make weekly assignments and offer daily help while students are expected to continue their work completing these assignments.
The Governor’s announcement now allows our schools to plan for the remaining three weeks of our school year. The Board regrets to inform the community that all district events that were scheduled through the end of the year are cancelled. The limitations of social distancing in the wake of the pandemic have made it impossible for schools to offer these activities in their traditional fashion.
Building Leadership Teams have been meeting virtually to devise plans for the end of the school year. Items of discussionhave included:
The MPHS Building Leadership Team and the MPGS Building Leadership Team will be releasing plans at the end of this week that outline how each school will proceed with the end of the school year so students and their families have direction in how to move forward. The teams have worked extremely hard and collaborated with administration, district staff and students to develop these plans.
On behalf of the entire district, I thank everyone for their flexibility, understanding and thoughtfulness as we try to make the best of our given situation. We are also very sorry for the lost opportunities for our students, community and staff. The Board is confident that the Mt. Pulaski community will rise from this tragic set of circumstances to become better, stronger and more resilient!
