Good Friday Toppers!

I am happy to once again report that we have had another successful week at the grade school and high school.  There were no positive COVID-19 cases in the district and only a few students have been sent home with illness at this time.  Nurse Hickey and our office staffs continue to monitor all students to assure they are symptom free.

We have made a few new accommodations over the past two weeks to take care of student needs and safety.  We have a few large classes that we hold in the gym or new training room, while other teachers are able to make use of the common area in the Media Center while instructing students.  Upper elementary, junior and high school teachers are also implementing Google Classroom as a common format for instruction.  After talking with students and staff, it appears everyone is getting the hang of our new instructional strategies.  If there can be a bright spot come out of the pandemic, it is the fact that students and educators alike have been forced to rethink how we teach and learn.  It has allowed us to open doors and try strategies we may not have ventured to before.  Like many difficult things, we hope we grow stronger from the things that challenge us.

Construction on the high school continues as we work with contractors to complete our punch lists and work continues in the locker rooms.  There are some interior design items that the board is still considering, but the high school campus is mostly functional.

The Board of Education will adopt the FY2021 Budget this Monday, which will reveal the district is operating with appropriate reserve levels while paying for construction and renovation projects that have taken place across the district.

After taking everything in consideration, we are off to a great start in Mt. Pulaski!  The administration and staff thank everyone for their support and understanding.  We will keep striving to make adjustments and offer the best instruction possible to our students.
