School District Logo

Hilltop Faithful,

Today, IDPH and the Governor’s Office did an about face and made an announcement to allow all high school athletics in all regions that are in Phase 4.  Logan County lies in Region 3, which is currently in Phase 4, and will be allowed to have junior high and high school students participate in athletics as long as region metrics remain safe.

The IHSA and IESA are expected to release more detailed information on seasons and restrictions no later than early next week.  Mt. Pulaski is starting junior high volleyball on Friday, January 22, 2021 as previously stated.  A full schedule of contests will be released at the soonest availability.

Football, boy’s and girl’s junior high and high school basketball are allowed to begin contact days next week.  Families of athletes should wait to receive notification from their coaches to learn details of schedules.  Information on other sports such as baseball, cheer, softball and track is not yet available.

We have learned during the pandemic that anything and everything can change at a moment’s notice.  The future press releases by the IHSA and IESA will shed more information and offer guidance to school districts on how to move forward.  The Mt. Pulaski Athletic Director, Mr. McVickers, will share updates as they become available.

As for today, please share in the excitement our students will be displaying as we take positive steps toward normalcy.  Please allow administrators and coaches the time necessary to gather the appropriate information so that they can accurately report it to you in a timely fashion.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation.  Wash-up, mask-up and keep the distance!

Respectfully,

Fred Lamkey, Mount Pulaski Superintendent
