I hope everyone’s Monday is off to a good start! It looks like today and tomorrow will bring us warmer temperatures in the 40’s with a possibility of rain on Tuesday. That may be where the good news ends!
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch starting at 9:00 PM on Tuesday, February 1st and running through the evening of Thursday, February 4th. Current expectations are for 8 or more inches of snow with winds of 15-20 mph and gusts over 30 mph. If these predictions hold true, there is a good chance that we will not have in person school attendance on Wednesday and Thursday.
In the event that we cancel in person attendance, we will instruct through Remote Learning Days for grades PreK-12. Your school and teachers will circulate schedules and information for Remote Learning Days. The school district works in conjunction with the county and townships to determine if conditions will be safe to have school. We will let you know at the soonest possible moment in the event that in person attendance is canceled and Remote Learning is scheduled. This notification is designed to give families time to prepare for the chance that we will not have in person attendance on Wednesday and possibly Thursday.
Families will be notified through traditional mechanisms such as TV and radio, but the district will also make automated calls, send automated text messages and post changes on social media. It is important to contact the schools if you have had changes in your phone numbers or email. Information on games, practices and meetings will also be shared through these channels.
For now, make sure you have groceries and emergency kits in your cars for the unexpected! We can hope the worst part of the storm misses us, but it is important to plan for the most extreme possibilities! Stay warm and safe, we will be in touch!
