Hello Hilltoppers, Bruins and Honeybears!

It is that time of year again when fall fades into winter and as we must once again consider how we approach inclement weather.  First and foremost, we are concerned with student, staff and community safety.  When considering school closure, we consult a variety of individuals, including road commissioners, weather services, law enforcement and neighboring school districts.

If roads are too treacherous or the weather too forbidding, the school district will cancel in-person attendance and conduct remote instruction.  This option allows students to complete instruction from home without negatively affecting the school calendar.  While we do not rule out the potential for canceling school for a snow day, most days where attendance cannot be held will result in remote learning.

Once a decision to cancel in-person instruction is made, the school district will push out communications through phone message, text and email, as well as television and radio.

Your student’s teachers will offer guidance on remote instruction plans so families understand expectations and the work that is to be completed.  Teachers will be available online during school hours to answer questions and offer remote instruction.

Contact your student’s principal if you have specific questions about remote instruction or inclement weather planning.

Respectfully,

Fred Lamkey, Mt. Pulaski Superintendent
