Evan Cooper, son of Scott and Tanya Cooper, has been named March-Senior-of-the-month at Mount Pulaski High School. He was selected for this honor based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

            Evan has consistently been involved in extracurricular activities during his time at MPHS. He has played Baseball and Basketball for 4 years. He has also participated in Spanish Club and FFA for 4 years. He is currently serving as the Mount Pulaski FFA Treasurer. He has participated in Science Olympiad and Academic Challenge for 3 years and NHS for 2 years. Evan is also a member of the Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran Church.

            Outside of school Evan has been a volunteer baseball coach, assisted with clean-up at the Elkhart Festival, volunteered at the Memorial Health Championship Korn Ferry Gold Tournament, helped set up Clark’s Kettle Corn, sold raffle tickets for the Draw Down Dance, helped set up Christmas on Vinegar Hill, made Christmas cards for Vonderlieth, Help with the 2A IESA Boys State Tournament, collected food for FFA, and helped with Basketball Camp for the grade school.

            Evan has also received numerous awards and recognitions. He has been on Straight A honor roll all 4 years and was also named an Illinois State Scholar. He was a Greenhand and Chapter Degree recipient in FFA, and this year he is working toward earning his state FFA degree. He has also been named student of the year in multiple classes including, English 1, Agriculture, World and National Events, Health, Chemistry, English 3, and Advanced Chemistry.

            Evan is undecided if he will attend a community college or university next year, but he plans to pursue a degree in Agribusiness Management. He also plans to continue to play baseball, as he is still actively communicating with various coaches.

The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Conaway Handyman Service and Downing, Przykopanski, Clements, & May Insurance Agency, Inc. They are also in the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by INB.
