On Tuesday, October 3rd, the Mt. Pulaski CUSD 23 Board of Education hosted the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) Dinner Meeting for the Abe Lincoln Region.  The meeting was an opportunity to gather representatives from school districts in 8 counties for an evening of information and celebration.  There were 55 total guests in attendance.

The evening began with an Open House which allowed district board members and administrators time to tour guests around the new high school facilities.  Next, the Abe Lincoln Division of the IASB conducted a formal business meeting with officers and attendees.  Following the meeting was dinner served by OPAA!, the district's meal provider.

Once the formality of dinner was completed, our district was able to present to the audience on the topic of Shared Leadership.  Superintendent Fred Lamkey, President Eric Cowan and Vice President Deanne Mott gave a presentation, complete with staff testimonials on the organization, systems, resources and planning that is involved in the process.  The importance and benefits of Strategic Planning and School Improvement Planning was emphasized as these processes allow for stakeholder input and informed decision making by administrators and the Board of Education.  The presentation was a display of the values our district has and the efforts we are making to be in a state of constant improvement.  The presenters will work with IASB to offer a version of the presentation at the statewide Joint Annual Conference in Chicago this November.

Thank you goes out to the Grade School and High School Building Leadership Teams, the district office staff, Opaa!, administrators, the high school maintenance staff and the IASB for their support in making this evening a success.  It was a great opportunity to show the great success of Mt. Pulaski Schools to other communities.
