Colt Selinger, son of Rich and Jamie Selinger, has been named March-Senior-of-the-Month at Mount Pulaski High School.

During his time at MPHS Colt has been a member of the Soccer team for 4 years serving as Captain this year and was named Offensive Player of the Year. He has also been on the Baseball team and in Drama Club for 4 years. He has been a part of Student Council for 3 years, having served as both Treasurer and Secretary. He also played Basketball and was on the Academic Challenge team for 3 years. He has been on NHS for 2 years, currently serving as the Treasurer.

Colt has been on the Straight A honor roll every semester of high school. He also was named an Illinois State Scholar for the class of 2024. He has also been named as the English 1, Health, Algebra 2, Woodworking, and Chemistry student of the year. In 9th grade, he placed 1st in the IDEA Regional Competition for Drafting and was the Scary Story winner in English 1. In 2023 he was an invited scholar to the National Youth Leadership Forum: National Security, Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Defense.

Colt has participated in numerous community service projects as well. He has collected canned goods, helped with Christmas On Vinegar Hill, supervised the bounce house at Fall Fest, tutored students at MPHS before finals, babysat for Parents’ Night Out, and helped at the Diamond Willow Ministry on a Lakota Reservation in South Dakota.

Colt plans to attend college in the fall and obtain a degree in Engineering.

The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Conaway Handyman Service and Downing, Przykopanski, Clements, & May Insurance Agency, Inc. They are also in the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by INB.
