Sophia Buenrostro, daughter of Kynda Buenrostro, has been named October-Senior-of-the-Month at Mount Pulaski High School.
During her time at MPHS, Sophia has participated in FCCLA, Drama Club, Yearbook, and Cheerleading for 4 years. She has also participated in Student Council and Spirit Squad for 3 years, and Soccer, Track, and Science Olympiad for 2 years.
Sophia has been on the Honor Roll consistently, earning recognition in High Honors and Straight A’s. She was also a member of the Parliamentary Procedure team through FCCLA, earning 3rd place nationally her Junior year and 5th place nationally her Sophomore year. In addition to her extracurriculars, Sophia has worked for Davis Dairy Bar and is currently working at Cracker Barrel. She also has accumulated 75 total hours of community service.
Sophia plans to enlist in the Air National Guard and then attend Illinois State University to earn a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Interior Design.
The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by the Mount Pulaski Education Association and Downing, Przykopanski, Clements, & May Insurance Agency, Inc. They are also in the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by INB.
